We had a nice visit of the whole family to the Anza-Borrego State Park this morning. It’s past the peak for desert wildflowers, but we still saw some colorful plants. I took some photos, and managed to crop a few on my as-yet ill-equiped Dell laptop.

Rhinebeck
October 19th, 2007 · No Comments
I’m going on Sunday with my friend Karen: New York State Sheep and Wool Festival (popularly known as Rhinebeck, after the town it’s held in). I’ve been once before, and I’m looking forward to going back. I’ve recently been picking up my knitting needles again, so it doesn’t seem such an extravagance to consider buying [...]

Home again

Whew! The annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association was rewarding (who knew so many people like the magazine?), spending Monday doing tourist things was fantastic (I’d like to be able to visit the classical Chinese garden on a regular basis), but the flight home was absolutely terrible (American through Dallas-Fort Worth, with a [...]

Ten things about California
October 3rd, 2006 · No Comments
Since the Friday Ten has fallen way by the wayside, I thought I’d do a Tuesday Ten. (I’ve always loved alliteration. Must be the Anglo Saxon in me.) So here goes, with ten things I liked about my recent trip to California:
My parents are in good health.
My nephew is cute as a button and smart [...]

September 9th, 2006 · 1 Comment

I’ve kept intending to sit down and write catch-up posts. Perhaps the best way to get started is just to summarize:
One of my best and oldest friends, BH, [...]

In praise of cruising

Mark Turner in The Observer: Welcome to the cruising capital of the world
Whether he was careless, reckless or foolish, as some have claimed, really isn’t very interesting. I also don’t care if he takes drugs (’Shock! Horror! Pop Star Smokes Dope!’). I don’t care if he’s a well-adjusted homosexual. I don’t care about his pending [...]
Travelin’

I’ve had a month of not always knowing if I’m coming or going. It started off the second week of May with a visit to Fry Communications, which prints and mails UU World, to meet our account rep, see the magazine on the press, and get a tour. Fry is located in Mechanicsburg, Pa., so [...]

Ten things in London
December 29th, 2005 · 2 Comments
Since I’ve been totally negligent about the Friday Tenâ„¢, I thought I’d post these ten things I’m looking forward to doing while I visit London for the next eleven days:
Love Revealed: Simeon Solomon and the Pre-Raphaelites (which is the reason for the trip)
Visiting my friend John and meeting his partner Nick
V&A: Style and Splendor and [...]
