Lessons from a virtual life By day, Kenneth Sutton is the mild-mannered managing editor of UU World magazine. But by night, he is Otenth Paderborn, gentleman, landowner, Steampunk, and DJ in the virtual world of Second Life. [...]

A year of Quaker meeting in Second Life
February 13th, 2008 · Comments Off
My Second-Life alter ego has posted some photos to mark A year of Quaker meeting in SL. It was a year ago that we held our first Quaker meeting for worship in Second Life, and here we are, still meeting weekly, with a midweek meeting at a more Euro-friendly time getting started, and a beautiful [...]

One of the people I’m coming to know in that funny, online, “I’ve never met them” way is Tateru Nino, a fellow denizen of Second Life and Twitter (who happens to live in Australia). She’s a prolific blogger and writer, ready with insightful commentary about the unfolding metaverse. She has posted a lovely essay prompted [...]

Merry Christmas
December 23rd, 2007 · Comments Off
The irony, of course, is that I hardly ever get around to sending Christmas cards. But my Second Life alter-ego, Otenth Paderborn, is part of a neo-Victorian community where it is an absolute must to send greetings, so I hunted around and found this graphic to make a card. (Click the image for a larger [...]

Radio Riel: From the Library . . . Luciafest
December 12th, 2007 · Comments Off
One of the engaging things about Second Life is meeting people and learning new things. Somewhat to my surprise, I am part of a radio station, for which I serve as an event host and occasional music presenter. At about midnight tonight I will begin broadcasting Radio Riel: From the Library . . . Luciafest [...]

cross-posted from Tenth Life

The most recent blog meme has been going through Second Life like a wildfire, and I was tagged earlier today at Tenth Life. I thought it was potentially interesting enough to cross-post here. Tag, I’m it! I’m it! I’m it! First, it was the Defender of Murdann; then my web-friend Marion Rickenbacker, whose photography I [...]
